India is one of the largest producers of sugar in the world, and several states contribute significantly to the country’s sugar production. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the top sugar manufacturing states in India include.

Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh is the leading sugar-producing state in India. The fertile Gangetic plains provide an ideal environment for sugarcane cultivation, and major sugar-producing districts include Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Bijnor.

Maharashtra: Maharashtra is another major contributor to India’s sugar production. Key sugar-producing regions in the state include Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Pune, and Solapur.

Karnataka: Karnataka is known for its robust agricultural practices, and it is a significant player in the sugar industry. Major sugarcane cultivation areas include Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, and Mandya.

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu has a substantial sugarcane cultivation area, and it contributes significantly to the country’s sugar production. Key districts include Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, and Salem.

Gujarat: Gujarat has a growing sugar industry, and regions like Surat, Vadodara, and Bharuch are known for sugarcane cultivation and sugar production.

Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh is also a notable sugar-producing state, with major sugarcane cultivation areas in districts like Krishna, West Godavari, and Chittoor.

Telangana: Telangana has been increasing its contribution to sugar production, with districts like Medak and Nizamabad being significant players in sugarcane cultivation.

Bihar: Bihar has a growing sugar industry, and key sugarcane cultivation areas include West Champaran, East Champaran, and Sitamarhi.
